The Collective Unconscious

This is really a ‘note to self’ to include the following material in my development of a post / series on the E.T. blog, here. In the Synchronicity book I’m reading (see previous post) we are starting to explore the collective unconscious. Some points:

  • the collective unconscious is deeper than the personal unconscious, and shared between humanity as a whole. Additionally, there are realms of shared unconscious common to particular groups of people, and historical layers of unconscious that also influence our thought and behaviour, depending on which part of the world we live in. The collective unconscious is co-creative with the society we live in.
  • ‘the essence of the collective unconscious lies in the meanings of its archetypes, those dynamic patterns and symmetries that maintain its internal structure…While it is not possible to observe the archetypes directly, their movements can be sensed through the numinous images, myths and happenings that enter consciousness.’
  • ‘Jung has even suggested that archetypes can unfold over hundreds or thousands of years and they manifest themselves in a series of historical events within a particular nation’.
  • every thought changes the thinker physically and psychologically; the physical brain is changed by the movements of the mind and the physical behaviours that come with those movements.
  • a question; would it be possible to explore and somehow consciously manifest every element and layer of collective unconscious within us, (with a necessary deep historical focus) in order to serve a regeneration of human culture, a revolution of culture, in the present? A revolution to banish the capitalist-colonialist hegemony? Could such exploration and manifestation even extend into biomimicry of the realms of fauna and even flora to which we are related, and with which we share DNA? Could we go even deeper to realise within us, the birth of planets and galaxies? This is the grand aim of ‘Existence is Revolution: A Regenerative Theirstory of Our Universe’
